| Photovoltaic (PV) Panel Information
There are basically two types of PV Panels available; Crystalline and Amorphus.
1. If you are running direct, like a DC Solar Panel hooked directly to a pump, you are generally limited to a Crystalline Panel - the Amorphus Panel will generally only operate as a battery charger, although special Amorphus Panels are available that will allow for direct powering, they are much more expensive then Crystalline or normal Amorphus Panels.
2. Amorphus Panels are self-regulating for reasonable panel sizes, so in most cases they require no regulator. Crystalline Panels require some sort of regulation device.
3. Amorphus Panels will operate without a diode, though installing a diode will result in more net power realized per day. Crystalline Panels must operate with a diode or they will run the battery down each night.
4. Over the years, Crystalline Panels may lose 20% of their power where Amorphus Panels may only lose 10%.
5. Amorphus Panels are commonly referred to as Cloudy Weather Panels.
